Post Quake Vision
Project Type: External Supporting Structure & Public Space
Project Year: 2013 (Competition Entry)
Project Team: Kostas Grigoriadis, Xuanzhi Huang

The Post Quake Visions competition invited proposals for the rehabilitation of earthquake-stricken buildings in Crevalcore, Italy. The speculative proposal explored 3D-printed scaffolding, produced using D-Shape sand-printing technology. The printed structures would prop the exterior walls of damaged buildings, and become a substrate for plants and other flora to grow on, and eventually form a publicly accessible green space. On a micro-scale, the bound sand material would be configured to be more porous on the outer layers of the scaffold in order to encourage various floral organisms to populate the structure.
