The project was the winning entry (from a total of 201 submissions) in the SpireTec competition, held in 2010. The brief was to design a 62,000 square metre mixed-use building in a site in the Greater Noida region on the outskirts of Delhi, India. The project consisted of an office tower on the west end of the plot, and smaller cultural and institutional buildings scattered across the site, with all buildings unified by a ‘green armature’. The latter’s function was to provide shading in the public areas, regulate the amount of light entering the interior spaces, and to form a green spine containing various species of local plants. Construction of the smaller office blocks at the perimeter of the site started in 2015, only to cease permanently a year later.
